Also of note is the Aviara Golf Club at the Four Seasons Resort in Carlsbad, also about 40 minutes north on the I5.

If you are looking for something very unique but more affordable, check out Mount Woodson golf course. Not only is the drive through the old bolder strewn mountains unforgettable, but you then get to play holes with names like "The Chute", "Razors Edge" and "The Plunge"! If it is scenery your after, you might want to check out Steele Canyon golf course, about 30 minutes east on San Diego. This is a 27 hole facility with 2 mountainside nines and one valley nine
